An Interview with Cadhla

Hi, my name is Cadhla, I’m a member of the schools Junior Eco-club we meet every Friday lunchtime to complete eco-projects. For example, I helped create the Eco-Club noticeboard to let others know about the importance of recycling. I also planted donated trees in our school grounds. We have won a Green Flag Schools award for our work 2 years in a row.
Our school recycles paper, plastic waste, toner cartridges and ink cartridges. So our Eco-Club set up bins to recycle plastic bottles & cans, and this term we decided to add a new tub to recycle batteries, we put the tub in our recycling zone on the ground floor.
Recycling batteries is really important because if things aren’t reused, we waste energy and just dumping batteries is bad for the environment. I think a lot of batteries are thrown out over Christmas so hopefully after we visit classes to tell them about our collection point we will collect even more for recycling.
